Species   

     Here in South Florida, our fish population in saltwater has about as much variation as a full buffet at your local wine and dine. You may want to chase  down a lit up sailfish in hot pursuit of ballyhoo, or  perhaps stay in the backwaters stalking the ever majestic "silver king" also know as the tarpon. The possibilities are endless and the opportunity to experience a fishing environment like this can be found along the waters of Southeast Florida.

Below are a few species which can be found in south Florida waters:

  Snook (Robalo) 

 

Found along inland waters
Bruisers of the backcountry
average 4-12lbs; State record 44lbs 3oz.
Food quality- very good

                       

  Tarpon (Sabalo)

   

Found along bays and inland waters of Florida
also known as the "Silver King"
The foremost fish to rip your drag!
average 15-50lbs; State record 243lbs
Food quality-poor

 

    Cero mackerel (Makarela)

 

 Found mainly along bays and reefs
streamline and jet fast
average 2-4lbs;State record 17lbs 2oz
Food quality-good

 

     Dolphin (Dorado)

 

Found along tropical waters around the Globe
Also known as Mahi Mahi or Dorado
extremely agressive feeders
average 6-15 lbs; State record 77lbs 12 oz
Food quality-excellent

 

  Atlantic Sailfish (Pez vela) 

 

 Found along the tropical waters of the carribean
Also known as Pez vela 
average  40-80lbs; State record 116lbs 10 oz

  Spanish Mackerel (Makarela Espanola)

 

 Found along bays and reefs in Florida

 Red Grouper (Cherna)

          Found along natural reefs and wrecks
King of the bottom dwellers

Found along bays and reefs along the Atlantic
furious speedsters and are known for having
voracious appetites

Found along reef formations and current
spirited fighters with bullet shaped bodies

  Spotted Sea trout (Trucha del oceano)

       

Found along grass flats and sandy bottom
very agressive feeders

extremely acrobatic fighters
